People dissaprove of adding Fluoride to their drinking water becausMe it can stain their teeth brown. The experiment of the mottled teeth were surprisingly resistant to decay which stained the teeth. Nobody wants stained teeth!
What should your position be on adding fluoride to drinking water and why?
I wouldn’t add fluoride becuase it isn’t healthy for your teeth when combined with drinking water. It can stain your teeth brown that won’t go away which isn’t good.
What technoligical advances in toothpaste had to be made before fluoride could be widely used in toothpaste and mouthwashes?
the Food and Drug Association has made three decay-preventing compounds which are stannous fluoride, sodium fluoride, and sodium monofluorophosphate. They’re all derived from hydrofluoric acid, which in turn is made by reacting sulfuric acid with fluorspar, a calcium fluoride-rich ore.
The trick to making fluoride toothpastes is marrying the fluoride with a compatible abrasive. For example, the simplest and most obvious fluoride choice, sodium fluoride, isn’t very soluble in the presence of calcium phosphates, the abrasive used in most early toothpastes.
What side effects of using fluoride in drinking water are of most concern to you? Why?
I would be most concerned in damaging my teeth because the mixture seems very reactive and unhealthy for your teeth which isn’y good.
